Mui Fridays: 06
The Music
This is an old playlist of mine and it starts off with a hammering of Benee, then proceeds into a chaotic mix of genres. So it really keeps you on your toes. And yes, there is a Marnie Mash 1 (and 3 and 4).
The Drinks
This week I started a new casual job so to celebrate the end of my first week, we popped a bottle of the good champagne. If you think you don’t have a good reason to drink good champagne, you are wrong. Have a think about all the things you accomplished this week and that is a good enough reason. While you’re at it, light the good candle too.
Served in our fancy tulip glasses and sipped slowly.
What we didn’t sip slowly, however, were our Friday shots (Jameson as always).
The Food
Pizzas, but make em puff! Grab yourself a sheet of puff pastry and leave it at room temp for a little while (wrapped in a tea towel so it doesn’t dry out). Once it’s pliable, fold over the edges slightly to make the ‘crust’.
We made our own pizza sauce, using the sauce from Josh Weissman’s chicken parmi recipe - halved, subbed 2 anchovies for the bacon and rosemary instead of thyme.
Bacon, mushrooms, capsicum and spring onions. Then once cooked, a drizzle of chilli honey (we got this from Aldi).
The beauty of a square pizza is like toast, you can cut it into triangles of squares. I’ve tried both options but like the triangles best.
The Entertainment
We almost never watch movies but we are in-between tv shows at the moment (send me your recommendations) so we opted in for a Friday night movie.
Michael picked ‘The Game’ which is one of those movies I feel like my Dad was always watching when I was younger. If you haven’t seen it or heard of it, it’s a 90s thriller about a business man who gets gifted a weird immersive game experience. The boundaries between reality and the game become blurred and things start getting wild.
It’s long - I think 2 hours-ish. But worth it. Just make sure you’ve got enough snacks to get you through.
The End.
